Commemorative BookAn excerpt from the prologue of Treasures of the Archdiocese of San Antonio:
On the Way
In Luke’s Gospel, we read about two disciples on the road to Emmaus. As they walked along, “they were conversing about all the things that had occurred. And it happened that while they were conversing and debating, Jesus Himself drew near and walked with them, but their eyes were prevented from recognizing Him” (Luke 24:14-16). Jesus accompanies them on their journey, and helps them make sense of what has happened. As we look back on the history of the Church in San Antonio, we are not just reciting events of the past, but reflecting on how Christ has been present with us every step of the way, in good times and dark times, in times of plenty and times of loss. It is only in Christ that we can make sense of where we have been, and where we are going.
