INVITE SOMEONE YOU LOVE TO MASS!

Lent is a time that we all are given the chance by God to experience change! This is not only the season of prayer but a time to accept letting go of all that is holding us back from his forgiving love. Who are we to be that obstacle for someone who we care and love from experiencing God's Unconditional Love. So our parish community along with our Pastor challenge you to invite Someone You Love To The Truth Of God's Love! The Church Is a Hospital For Sinners! Invite Them To Experience The Summit Of Their Week! Bring Someone You Love To Sunday Mass!

YOU'RE CALLED TO SAINTHOOD!

You may not see yourself as a saint like person or might not feel that you're no where close to being a saint. But that is the point! Jesus didn't call the perfect or the flawless he called the flawed and the imperfect people of the world. He called the sinners to walk the life of sainthood.  So our Pastor and parish community is inviting you to take on this Lenten Challenge of being less of your old bad habits that make you unhappy and heavy hearted. You are probably wondering will then how do I follow Christ to sainthood. If you are curious then continue by reading more...

God has laid down for us a way to begin our journey to sainthood.

THE TEN COMMANDMENTS
  • I am the Lord your God.
  • You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.
  • Remember to keep holy the Sabbath day.
  • Honor your father and your mother.
  • You shall not kill.
  • You shall not commit adultery.
  • You shall not steal.
  • You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

But then Christ his son then shares with us in the story of the rich man on how our calling to sainthood doesn't just stop with The Ten Commandments. But it continues with these words from the man himself in Mark 10:21, by Jesus, looking at him, loved him and said to him, “You are lacking in one thing. Go, sell what you have, and give to [the] poor and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.”

Mark 10:17-31 (The Rich Man)
Our Pastor and Parish Community here at St. John The Evangelist encourage you to open up your bible this Lent and Let Go and Let God!

DUST OFF THE BIBLE!

The Bible may seem like an old book that is not relatable and out dated. I know we live in a time of Tik Tok and Facebook posts. Our minds are distracted from the simple things in life like the Bible. Even the Bible as simple as it is, the bible will give you things a short Tik Tok or Facebook post can not. So this lent our parish community and pastor encourage you to take the time as part of your Lenten Challenge to put down your phone and pick up your bible. Your time spent in reading scripture is also time of prayer! When we read scripture we are having a conversation with God. Maybe you're saying, I don't know where to start in the bible. If you are interested in reading your Bible then continue reading more...

This Lent reading plan walks through each of the four Gospels during the Lent season. What better way to prepare for Easter than to read the complete story of Jesus' birth, life, death and resurrection?

LENTEN DEVOTIONALS
We have these devotionals available at the parish office and in the back of the church near the entrance. If not ask your pastor or an usher from the Parish.
